Intro..... The exhibition known as the
“Life and Times of Christ” was
put together by Christians at Details - The exhibition consists of five sections at which each Key Stage 2 Class spends an average of 10 minutes. At the end they complete a worksheet of 16 questions which is marked during time at the school and returned to them. As a parting gift they receive a gospel of Luke plus a take home worksheet in which there are quizzes and puzzles (answers being on the back page!) The five exhibition
sections are as follows: 1. Jewish Artefacts and model of first century Synagogue. Among the 12 artefacts many still used in Judaism today are explained to the children. The next few
sectors each consist of 6 boards
on 2.
The
first of three is illustrating the cultural background: Maps, model of
a house,
details of jobs, village life, and sights and sounds of 3. The
second picks up on the Bible narrative of Jesus' birth; choosing of his
disciples, and his early ministry around Galilee. 4. The next section reflects what Jesus taught; a selection of parables, Jesus’ “I am” saying and the events leading up to Good Friday. 5. The fifth and final section deals with the elements of Easter Sunday and the start of the early church. The exhibition concludes with reference to ongoing work of 21st Century Christian organisations. Many of the Key features of the exhibition reflect themes from the Birmingham Agreed RE Syllabus for Key stages 1 and 2. Age range - Primarily designed
for Key Stage 2 classes years 3-6
for a duration of 75 minutes each. Setup requirements - Normally
the set up would take place the evening before ready for an early start
if (and it usually is) required. The Exhibition stands once assembled
can be conveniently moved to the side should the hall been needed ffor another activity or to make space for lunch. The exhibition is run by a team of presenters and in all but a few circumstances would be five people. Each presenter has an up to date enhanced CRB which the school can see on our arrival.

It was pitched at the right level to allow the children to get the most out of it.” An exciting change to R.E., which got all the children involved and everyone worked hard to learn something.” “Both staff and pupils have commented on the high standard of your resources, your excellent presenter’s skills and knowledge of the Bible.” “Staff and pupils alike thoroughly enjoyed their session and found the exhibition interesting, well organised and quite suitable for the pupils.” “Pupils very much enjoyed working with the team, as no doubt you could tell from their enthusiasm and the fact they sat quietly and listened.” “The children gained tremendously from the experience and I know that our Year 6 pupils were particularly impressed – because it fitted in so well with the R.E. work they are currently undertaking.” |
